Hi there, thanks for visiting my blog and wanting to know more about me!
My Second Life journey began in May of 2004, and has certainly come a long way since then. I have been involved in Second Life’s fashion industry as a model (both print and runway), designer, and blogger. In 2007, I helped develop an island for the Rochester Institute of Technology to use as their virtual campus. That same year, I helped co-teach the first course at an accredited university that was about Second Life. I also joined the team at Millions of Us to help them bring corporations into the Metaverse, which ultimately led to me being the community manager for the Gossip Girl sims in Second Life.
After that in 2009, I launched what is perhaps my best-known venture – the Petable Turtles, one of Second Life’s first breedable pets. Sadly, our team ended development of the turtles in 2011, and the server was shut off in the summer of 2013.
I have always been passionate about Second Life and its creators. I enjoy fashion, assembling wild avatars, putting together beautiful spaces, and scripting. This blog will feature a bit of all of those.
Another of my passions is the Relay For Life of Second Life. I served as one of the organizers of Fantasy Faire for three years and captain of Friends Fighting Cancer for one year.
Photos on Free Being Me will typically be raw shots from Second Life. I believe in the beauty of what Second Life’s creators have made, jagged edges from the render engine and all. If I’m showing you something, I want you to see what I see.
The name Free Being Me came about because for so long, I felt like I was trapped by other peoples’ expectations of what my Second Life should be like, but i have now decided to do what I want to do. I’m Free Being Me.
